Ghost of Tsushima.

Sony kicked off the 2017 edition of Paris Games Week with a slew of new announcements for both PS4 and PlayStation VR games. For the most part, the reveals were focused on 2018 and beyond. Alongside trailers for big games like Spider-Man and God of War, Sony showed a solid range of new titles, from the melancholic The Gardens Between to sequels for games like Spelunky and Guacamelee to new blockbuster titles like Ghost of Tsushima. Here are the most important announcements.

Sony promises “the next wave of huge PlayStation titles”

Sony will broadcast its media showcase from Paris Games Week 2017 today, promising a slew of game announcements during the livestreamed event.
What can we expect? Sony said it will reveal “the next wave of huge PlayStation titles” during the showcase. On Twitter, Sony further hyped up the event by saying “E3 was only half the story,” indicating that today’s showcase will be on par with one of the company’s major news events. (As a reminder, here’s what Sony announced at E3 2017.)
Today’s Paris Games Week media showcase will officially kick off at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET, but Sony will broadcast an “introductory livestream” an hour beforehand at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. The pre-show will feature "21 game updates, including seven all-new game announcements for PS4 and PS VR," Sony said.
PlayStation’s Paris Games Week 2017 livestream can be watched in the embedded video above or on the company’s YouTube or Twitch channels. Sony will also broadcast the event on the PlayStation website and Facebook.

GHOST OF TSUSHIMA

Sucker Punch — the studio behind the superhero series Infamous — is back with a brand-new game called Ghost of Tsushima. Described as an “open-world adventure,” the new title was teased with a brief trailer that showed off some incredibly stylized action set in what looks like feudal era Japan. No word yet on a release date.

SPELUNKY 2

One of the most celebrated indie games of all time is getting a long-awaited sequel. The cave-dwelling adventures of Spelunky will soon continue, though for now details are slim. We don’t know much about what to expect or when, but Spelunky 2 will be coming to the PS4 when it does launch.

Sony PlayStation at E3 2017: The 15 best announcements

Trailers, trailers, trailers

PlayStation E3 press conference
 PlayStation

Monday’s pre-E3 hoopla wrapped-up with PlayStation’s hourlong press conference.
The show delivered game announcements, trailers and more. Below you’ll find a quick summary on the biggest news to come out of the PlayStation press conference at E3 2017.
Even before the official press conference kicked off, PlayStation was carpeting their pre-presser show with news and announcements.
Knack 2 hits PS4 Sept. 5
We learned that the seemingly much better follow-up to the lackluster Knack hits the PlayStation 4 on Sept. 5. We also got to watch a new trailer for Knack 2 showing off platforming and combat.
PlayStation is experimenting with phone-controlled games
PlayLink allows multiple people to interact with special PlayStation 4 games and sort of control the experience. The early line-up includes Hidden Agenda, a party game called That’s You, FranticsSingStar Celebration and Knowledge is Power.
PlayStation Experience is back
This year’s PlayStation Experience is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center on December 9 and 10.
After an hour of videos and trailers, the show started with what turned out to be another hour of trailers introduced by PlayStation Interactive Entertainment America president Shawn Layden.

Uncharted’s spin-off won’t be a buddy game
Judging by tonight’s press conference, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy won’t feature the same sort of friendly banter found in the other Uncharted games. Instead, it appears that treasure hunter Chloe Frazer and mercenary Nadine Ross aren’t very happy with one another.
Destiny 2 hits two days earlier
All versions of Destiny 2 arrives two days earlier than the previously announced Sept. 8 release date. The PS4 version will also be receiving a strike, gear, ship, weapons and a PvP map.
Sony Bend’s zombie pandemic survival game looks stunning
We were give a nearly five-minute long look at Days Gone, the open-world action adventure from Sony Bend that was announced at PlayStation’s E3 press conference last year. The gameplay gave us a sense of some of the dangers that motorcycle club officer Deacon St. John will face.
Horizon Zero Dawn is getting DLC
PlayStation dropped straight into trailers this year showing off, among other things, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wastes. It’s set for a release later this year.

Monster Hunter World - dinosaur and camouflaged hunter

The first Monster Hunter game to hit a PlayStation console in years got a chunky gameplay showing at the conference. Monster Hunter World is set for an early 2018 release.
Shadow of the Colossus is back and its beautiful
A re-remastered version of beloved PlayStation 2 game Shadow of the Colossus is coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2018. It is being re-developed by the same team that brought the game to PlayStation 3.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite shows off a lot more characters
The PlayStation 4 version of the game received a number of character reveals in a fun little video. Among the new fighters were Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos, Zero from the Mega Man X games, Dante from the Devil May Cry and Black Panther. There’s also now a story demo available.
We got our first look at Call of Duty: World War II‘s multiplayer
There wasn’t a lot to see, but we got at least a sense of what Call of Duty: World War II’s gritty multiplayer will look like.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

PlayStation VR is getting some great games
VR games The Elder Scrolls: SkyrimFinal Fantasy 15, shooter Bravo Team, adventure game StarchildSuperhot VR and Moss, produced by Polyarc games, were all shown offfor the PSVR during the press conference.
We’re getting a new God of War next year
It’s no surprise that God of War (yes, that’s its name) looks stunning. With a 2018 release date, we have a lot of time to think about what it will be like to play as Kratos with a son.
The new game from Heavy Rain’s and Beyond Two Souls creator looks amazing
Detroit: Become Human is a PlayStation 4 exclusive that appears to put you in the shoes of a cybernetic human that is — as are all of his kind — treated as a slave. The game is centered around an uprising.

Spider-Man PS4
Spider-Man PS4
 Insomniac Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment

Spider-Man is a game you’re going to want to pick-up
Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man looks simply amazing. In the press-conference’s video we saw Spidey running up buildings, webbing his way around bad guys, the city and just about everything else and even received a bit of insight into the story.
Also, all of these games (and more) have trailers which are are absolutely worth your time to check out right here.
E3 2017 begins on June 13, with press conferences starting June 10. For the big announcements, make sure to check out our one-stop shop for the show's streams.

GUACAMELEE 2

The quirky, Luchador-inspired “Metroidvania” Guacamelee is getting a sequel, and it’s making its debut on the PlayStation 4. The side-scrolling adventure is a direct follow-up to the 2013 original, and will introduce a new threat to “the very fabric of space and time” — as well as much-improved chicken action. Guacamelee 2 is coming to the PS4 “soon-ish.”

THE GARDENS BETWEEN

The Gardens Between is described as a “surreal story of friendship,” and it looks to follow the story of two characters as they make their way through a strange world filled with impossibly huge objects, like soaring Jenga towers and massive game consoles. The developers say you can control the flow of time in the game, which should make for some interesting narrative puzzles. The Gardens Between is launching on PS4 sometime next year.

MEGALITH

Megalith is described as a “hero shooter” — think colorful team-based games like Overwatch— but the twist is that it plays out in virtual reality. The game has players controlling powerful creatures called titans, fighting to become even more powerful gods. It doesn’t look especially unique, but it certainly is pretty. You’ll be able to check it out on PSVR in 2018.

Paris games week 2017 date

Paris Games Week, or simply PGW, is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Paris expo Porte de Versailles in ParisFrance. It is organised by SELL (Syndicat des éditeurs de logiciels de loisirs), a French organisation that promotes the interests of video game developers.

FINAL FANTASY XV: EPISODE IGNIS

The final major single-player add-on for Final Fantasy XV is on its way, and we finally have a date: “Episode Ignis” will debut on December 13th. The debut trailer promises plenty of story reveals, with a narrative that happens concurrently with the main game and fills in a few gaps. You also get to pilot a speedboat, and presumably learn a few more recipes.

THE HONG KONG MASSACRE

Following the recently released RuinerThe Hong Kong Massacre is a game that looks to marry the brutal violence of Hotline Miami with a distinctly cyberpunk look and feel. We don’t know much more beyond that, but you can get an early look at the top-down action in the debut trailer above. The Hong Kong Massacre is coming to the PS4 in 2018.

CONCRETE GENIE

A beautiful-looking adventure about a child exploring a world full of magic and monsters, Concrete Genie puts you in the role of a bullied teen who escapes by creating his own “living landscapes.” The game is coming out next year.

ERICA

Sony just debuted its PlayLink initiative, which allows certain PS4 games to be controlled with a smartphone. The upcoming Erica looks to be one of the more intriguing games to utilize the concept; it’s a live-action drama where you can interact with the narrative. No word yet on when Erica will make its PS4 debut.

BLOOD & TRUTH

One of the best initial offerings for PSVR was a mini-game called “The Heist,” which threw you into a series of Guy Ritchie-style action sequences. It was fairly simple, but the core of the idea was really exciting. The upcoming Blood & Truth looks to expand on that by fleshing out the concept with a larger experience and more cohesive story. The game currently doesn’t have a release date.
